Sheffield City Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Air Quality Officer who will play a key role in supporting major improvements to the air people breath across Sheffield.

Here in Sheffield, we want our air quality to be cleaner and healthier for all who live in our city.  We introduced our Clean Air Zone last year and we are already starting to see improvements in vehicle reductions.  This role provides an opportunity to analyse the air quality impact and support in improving our wider environment in helping to deliver our new five-year strategy and action plan. If you are interested in understanding the impact of one of only nine Clean Air Zones in the UK or want to help improve the environment, this role might be of interest to you.

You will provide air quality advice and guidance to colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders to enable them to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery and protect health. Undertaking modelling exercises you will support the project management of air quality reduction schemes and support the development of policy that will be crucial in supporting our city achieves its clean air objectives.

With a background in air quality monitoring and management, including the delivery of interventions to reduce emissions you will need to have high-level of knowledge of Air Quality Management, a proven track record working with key stakeholders to deliver in relevant workstreams such as pollution monitoring, air quality modelling and advising planning transport colleagues on development schemes.

You will also need to possess strong numeracy skills, an understanding of project management and have the ability to draft reports and communicate information of a complicated technical nature to peers and a wider non-technical audience in written form.
