We have a new exciting opportunity for a senior technical reporting officer to join our Performance and Business Intelligence Service and take a central role in the delivery of high quality data and business intelligence through the development and rollout of online and self-serve performance, reporting and analysis solutions.   

Working closely with service leadership, you will be key in the shaping and creation of performance data and intelligence for council Homelessness and Housing services which meets service, council, national and new regulatory requirements.   

You may also be called upon to support services across the council and partnership, in line with developing service and organisational priorities.   

With experience in using analysis to identify and delivering related service improvement you will be pivotal in ensuring the Council are a modern intelligence driven organisation, ensuring the success of our services and the achievement of the best outcomes for Rotherham people.   

With a high level of skill and experience in the creation of integrated reporting solutions you will be confident in writing complex SQL and in the use of SSRS/SSIS and Microsoft PowerBI to extract, interpret and present integrated data effectively to non-technical staff. An excellent communicator and independent problem solver you will have the ability to work with colleagues from across the council and outside agencies to assess local intelligence demand/needs and implement new engaging reporting solutions.   

In addition you will provide specialist advice, challenge and support on system improvements to increase analytical opportunities, customer intelligence and deliver statutory information requirements.   

This is a rapidly changing area of work, you will therefore have the ability to remain adaptable and to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines and deal with what are sometimes unpredictable and changing demands.  

About you:  

• Experienced in utilising intelligence reporting solutions to create high quality customer focused reporting with specific experience in the creation of complex SQL (queries, views and stored procedures), ETL processes using SSIS (or similar) and developing SSRS reports using Visual Studio or Report Builder.
• Experienced in the production of technical reporting from databases, a wide range of analysis, data visualisations and management information within a large organisation to support service evaluation, analysis requests and meet statutory data requirements
• Experience of translating and effectively presenting complex information to a range of non-technical people which engages the audience and clearly communicates key issues for improvement
• Experience in undertaking a project based approach in the development of systems and evaluation of services
• Experienced and adaptable communicator who can engage, leading and train others
