The Royal Borough of Greenwich Repairs and Investment Section is looking for a strong and highly motivated Clerk of works with excellent knowledge and passion for strategic asset management and stock condition survey.

The ideal candidate will be have a keen eye for details, be able to set a high standard and works collaboratively with consultants, contractors and in house officers.

In this exciting new role, you will need to:

  1. To carry out onsite inspections and inform the Project Manager if works do not comply with contract conditions and specifications.
  2. To provide regular reports on the progress and standard of the works to the Project Manager and Principal surveyor
  3. To include carrying out quality monitoring checks on the content and standard of works undertaken by the Contractor.
  4. To undertake Stock Condition Surveys using both PDA ( Hand held device ), or standard survey sheet Proforma’s including liaison with the Data and Programme Manager.
  5. To undertake joint surveys / Inspections with Contractor to carry out quality monitoring checks on the content and standard of works undertaken by the Contractor.
  6. Inspection and agreement of completed works, including advising Project Manager and other responsible officers of satisfactory standard.
  7. To work with contractors on site in accordance with the Council’s Standing Orders,
  8. To maintain complete records as required by directorate procedures and ensure that all essential matters relating to the works are recorded on a weekly basis.

What you’ll need

  1. To be a Contact Administrator for all projects or schemes or works.
  2. Liaise with colleagues in R&I section, other Housing and Council departments to ensure effective planning and delivery of capital works Programmes
  3. Ability to build effective, positive relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) including Members and be an active member of different teams.
  4. To ensure effective monitoring and cost control of all aspects of the capital and revenue programmes and ensure that overall viability of the programmes and projects are maintained in line with Council’s financial procedures.
  5. To ensure that contractors/sub-contractors comply with the Council’s policies and procedures and Technical Standards and to record any infringements to the Contact Administrator. To ensure that Surveyors’ and Structural Engineers’ instructions are clearly understood and carried out.
