Company Accountant

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. As a Company Accountant you will join Camden’s Finance service. You will be an innovative, highly skilled individual who will contribute to the financial management of Camden Living Limited.

Camden Living Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Camden Council with the purpose of providing affordable rented housing. Camden Living Limited offers affordable rented housing for people living and working in Camden. Rents are set at a level to help nurses, teachers and many others who are struggling to afford to rent privately. Camden Living Limited wishes to maintain Camden’s mixed communities – lower rents do this in many ways, such as helping local people to stay in the area they grew up in. The homes have been built through Camden Council’s Community Investment Programme, which is using innovative ways to build more housing, schools and community facilities in the borough.

The role

You will help deliver statutory financial accounts, management accounts and financial modelling to the company’s internal and external stakeholders.

We are seeking a Company Accountant to support the Service Business Partner in providing a robust and responsive financial business partnering service to Camden Living Limited’s Board of Directors. The post holder will take a lead in the day to day bookkeeping, financial reporting, collating statutory returns, and proactively identifying accounting opportunities as well as risks to provide the best accounting service for the company.

You will regularly engage with a range of stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships across both the finance function and front-line services and provide the Directors of Camden Living Limited with assurance that adequate internal control and financial management systems are in place.

To be successful in this role, you will be AAT qualified, studying for a CCAB or equivalent professional qualification, or part CCAB or equivalent qualified.

You will demonstrate excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, being able to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgement. The ability to understand and interpret complex legislative and regulatory frameworks that apply both to limited companies and to local government is key to the role.

You will have good knowledge and understanding of financial planning, management and financial frameworks. Ideally you would have prepared statutory financial accounts along with supporting working papers for a limited company.
