A great opportunity to join a rapidly improving council!
The Policy, Improvement and Risk Team is at the centre of a council that was named the most improved in the country at the 2022 Local Government Chronicle awards.
Last year’s corporate peer challenge confirmed that the council ‘serves the town well and is an impressive organisation…ambitious, with well-established and robust foundations.’
This is the perfect time to join us and help the council to continue its rapid improvement journey.
We lead on or support a variety of policy areas, aiming to improve outcomes for local people. This ranges from equalities and health and wellbeing to risk management and improvement projects.
The team is currently at the heart of a crucial programme of policy renewal, with key corporate and thematic plans being refreshed.
You will have the chance to provide direct advice and support to senior managers and elected councillors, to manage projects and programmes, and to work closely with a range of services, local partners and regional bodies.
The three posts available, which are closely linked, are: 1 x Policy Officer (see separate advert) and 2 x Corporate Improvement Officers. Further details can be found in the job profiles. If you are interested in applying for more than one role, please get in contact (see details below).
We are looking for good communicators, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to implement project-based approaches.
Adaptable and well-organised, you will be able to work under pressure – within a team environment and on your own initiative - to meet challenging deadlines.
Ideally, you will have experience of policy development or performance and risk management, as well as knowledge of issues affecting local government.
Qualifications required:
Level 7 qualification e.g. post graduate certificates and diplomas or evidence of the equivalent level of knowledge gained through employment.
