What will I be doing?

As part of a friendly and enthusiastic team, you will play an important role in designing innovative urban transport and public realm projects that will see people travelling around the city in more healthy and efficient ways.

You will be leading on delivery of major highway projects from concept to completion, assisted by our team of Engineering Technicians and Assistant Engineers.

You will join us on the career grade applicable to your qualifications and experience and will be supported to attain your professional qualifications and encouraged to undertake further training to assist you to progress through our career grades.

What do I need to have?

You should have a wide-ranging knowledge of current UK highways and traffic design guidance. It would be an advantage if you can demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges of delivering cycle, bus priority and public realm infrastructure in an urban environment.

We would particularly welcome applications from engineers who have experience in design and delivery of active travel schemes, highway drainage design (including SUDS), the preparation of contract documents and/or those who have a track record of project managing NEC4 construction contracts.

You will need to be proficient in the use of digital methods for design, document preparation and project programming and able to guide others in their use.

To be considered for interview, you will need to clearly explain within the Further Information section of your application how you meet every one of the essential criteria on the attached Person Specification. This should ideally include examples from your previous employment or education as appropriate. You should also explain how you fulfil the Desirable Criteria if you are able to.
