We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Corporate Health and Safety Team at Business Partner level.
Reporting to the Senior Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager and working within our friendly and supportive team, you will work in a partnership role to primarily support and advise Senior Management Teams in a nominated directorate.
Your role will help services within the Directorate to develop and deliver excellent occupational health and safety management practices. Reducing and controlling safety risks to our employees, customers and communities, Your role will help to ensure that the Council complies with its statutory duties as an employer under the Health and Safety at Work Act and responsibilities under other relevant acts/ regulations.
The Council provide many services to our communities and work in partnership with a wide range of external organisations. We are also the employer in our maintained schools and support them by providing the advice and guidance via our health and safety team.
In this role you will be challenging, monitoring and influencing health and safety management procedures, ensuring safety remains a top priority for Westmorland and Furness Council.
About this opportunity
As a Health and Safety Business Partner, you will provide support to a nominated council service area. You will be involved in developing corporate and service level procedures, advising on risk assessments and safe working procedures, devising audit and monitoring regimes, and providing verbal and written guidance and reports on a wide range of health and safety management topics. You will have an excellent knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation. This is a great opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional wishing to work in a large, diverse organisation. Health and Safety Business Partners also directly line manage identified Advisor level roles within the team.

Who we are looking for
The right person for this role will be an experienced, driven and proactive health and safety practitioner. You will have significant experience of providing occupational health and safety advice and guidance. You will work well both as an individual and as enjoy working as part of a team. You will already possess a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, but applications are welcomed from those who may already be working towards this but have appropriate knowledge and experience.
