Wakefield Council’s Health & Safety team now have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Adviser. The vacancy reinforces our commitment to professional continuous development and growth.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Health & Safety Adviser to take on a crucial role in developing and implementing Council wide, strategic health and safety initiatives while ensuring employee well-being and compliance with regulatory standards.

In addition to undertaking Health & Safety Audits, Workplace Inspections, monitoring compliance, the role will have a critical function in establishing and implementing the Council’s strategic health and safety management systems, including supporting implementation of the Councils Health & Safety Management Framework,  development of procedures which promote and drive a positive Health & Safety Culture at every level and across each Council Service and Directorate.

You will provide professional support and advice to support the implementation and maintenance of the highest standards of occupational health and safety across Wakefield Council.

This will include ensuring that health and safety governance arrangements are in place and are regularly monitored and audited. You will be expected to be confident in the provision of advice, guidance and training to employees and managers at every level of the Council.

You may also be expected to lead on a range of specialist topics, working closely with Health and Safety colleagues across the organisation to share knowledge on any specialist topic areas e.g., Asbestos, Working at Height.
