The Highway Delivery Team is a dedicated service area within Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to delivering a comprehensive service of the construction, maintenance and other works relating to the public highway and associated assets.   

The Highway Delivery Team is responsible for the delivery of a variety of maintenance and construction projects including the annual road Improvement programme, routine maintenance, construction schemes, traffic management and environmental improvements projects within the Rotherham borough as well as providing Out of Hours Emergency Call Out and Winter Service operations and support for other services in severe weather events.   

If you have experience as a road worker, labourer, ground worker, utilities operative, work in a construction related area or have a CSCS card then you may be interested in this role.  

We are looking for operatives who have experience in a range of the following:  

• Experience of operating basic tools, equipment, machinery and plant.
• Highways maintenance works such as pothole repairs, kerb laying, drainage, minor civils works / improvement works, out-of-hours emergency call-out and support severe weather operations.
• Demonstrate you have assisted in a range of highway construction tasks such as kerbing, flagging, tarmacking.
• Knowledge of health and safety and risk issues in the workplace.
• Ability to assist in the identification of resources required for work (e.g. plant, labour, and materials for different types of work).
• Ability to undertake checks (e.g. water, fuel and oil in roller, oil and filter on masonry saw etc.) and how this has been done in accordance with relevant policy, procedures, and legislation.
• Ability to work on own initiative, with minimal supervision in addition to good team working skills.
• Previous relevant experience or an NVQ 2 in highway maintenance or a construction related discipline,
• It would be an advantage if you have a clean driving licence, plant operator and NRaSWA certificates
• Basic IT knowledge and skills.  

The Highway Delivery Team is based at Hellaby depot. You will be required to work at any site or depot within the Rotherham borough.
