Internal Communications and Engagement Officer

Be the one to drive, develop and deliver Brent’s internal communications and engagement programme

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

The role of Internal Communications and Engagement Officer is vital in ensuring all officers across the council stay informed and connected. The post holder will lead on developing and delivering cross-cutting communication and engagement approaches that support borough plan priorities and other corporate objectives.

This includes managing and developing the council’s internal communications channels and ensuring successful delivery of key engagement projects, including our bi-annual, all-staff ‘Forward Together’ events, the annual ‘Pride of Brent’ awards, and employee engagement surveys and action plans.

The Person

The successful candidate will have the skills and ambition required to work in a high performing Transformation unit. This includes the ability to work collaboratively and at pace with senior stakeholders, the desire to trial new approaches and innovations, and the character to build strong and positive relationships with colleagues at all levels across the organisation.

This person will be an expert communicator with a sound knowledge of a wide range of communication and employee engagement approaches.

Closing Date: 15 October 2021 at 23:00
