Our Service
The Housing Standards construction team are responsible for ensuring the Councils social housing portfolio is up to date with the dwellings required to meet all current statutory, regulatory, and legislative standards.
The role
As a Mentor Joiner, you will play a crucial role in the development of new talent within our company. You will be responsible for mentoring, training, and providing hands-on guidance to junior joiners, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and experience to succeed. Your ability to lead by example and communicate effectively will be key to your success in this role.
As the Mentor you will assist Team Leaders, you will support the Team Leader in ensuring the success of the team. You’ll work closely with both the leadership team and employees to foster development, ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and create a positive and productive work environment. Your mentorship will help to empower team members, allowing them to reach their full potential while contributing to the company’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
At this grade further training will be available to enhance the skills base as required.
At Mentor level you will be expected to:
· To carry out new construction joinery work, and work for the secondary trade in which you are trained, as per work orders or specification.
· To carry out new and repair work in allied trades as needed.
· Record and monitor supplied equipment as necessary.
· Work to expected Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work.
· Undertake professional, mandatory, and skills-based training.
· Proven experience as a joiner, with hands-on experience in the trade.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and guide others.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Relevant certifications or qualifications, (Gold CSCS card, SSSTS, IOSH)
· A passion for teaching and developing others in the trade.
At this grade further training will be available to enhance the skills base as required.
The role will come with a Council vehicle, you will be responsible for carrying out routine vehicle safety checks as required and must ensure compliance with requirements relating to vehicle use and maintenance.
