The purpose 

  • To take lead responsibility for the co-ordination of learning and improvement activity across the service and collaborate with other agencies, both internal and external to the council to fulfil this role.
  • To take lead responsibility for the co-ordination of quality assurance activity within the service and as part of the wider assurance arrangements for the Children and Young People Directorate.
  • To play an integral part in inspection planning.
  • To take a lead in undertaking and analysing audit activity within the service. To cascade the learning to the team and inform the Youth Justice Partnership Board of quality assurance activity.
  • To provide a positive contribution to reduce first time entrants into the Criminal Justice System, reduce re-offending and reduce the numbers of children in custody.
  • To provide a positive contribution to support the service in delivering high standards of performance against all key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • To support the management of the risk of re-offending, harm to others and safety and wellbeing of children and in doing so promote the Child First approach. This will involve being an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • To promote and support participation of children in all aspects of service delivery.

Essential Requirements

Educated to degree level in a related field or holding a professional qualification recognised within youth justice, social care, or targeted youth support, OR extensive relevant experience.
