Mental Health Practitioner Manager/AMHP

The Role: Deputising for the Manager of the Service, you will be at the heart of our determination to deliver an exceptional mental health service. This is a non-case holding role however, you will oversee the work of a number of AMHP’s, handling urgent Mental Health Act assessments, and making sure that referrals are triaged, prioritised and dealt with appropriately. With every day presenting you with new challenges, you will be working with some of the locality’s most vulnerable individuals as you address safeguarding issues, so you will tackle everything from risk assessments through to supporting court proceedings. Crucially, you will ensure that the service is safe for both residents and AMHPs, and with the flexibility to support the Police, A&E and other colleagues in their duties as you respond to emerging and evolving situations, you will be capable of working well under pressure.

This role is a non-case holding role with a vast degree of responsibility, but with the backing of a stable, friendly and highly supportive team, you will find an exceptional opportunity to embrace the latest developments in practice. This is particularly relevant as this forward-thinking team have access to a healthy training budget and collectively, they are keen to continue improving their skills, knowledge and capabilities.

About You: This is a highly rewarding role in a fast-paced team. You will therefore need to be able to think on your feet, and guide colleagues in pressured environments. As a registered Approved Mental Health Professional, you will have experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems both in a multidisciplinary and AMHP setting. On a practical level, you will have a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, NHS & Community Care Act and FACS, and you will be capable of managing a duty service to effectively respond to any competing demands and risks, addressing any concerns or complaints. Above all else, you will be an excellent communicator who has plenty of empathy, and you will enjoy working in partnership with service users and their families, helping them find the support they need in a recovery-focused practice.  Promoting and protecting the rights of individuals, whilst also addressing   areas of risk and escalating when needed to be a skilled negotiator, maintain high quality standards across the service and lead by example.
