Planning Support Officer

We are looking for an experienced Planning Support Officer to- Provide an efficient and at speed Validations Service for the Development Management Team.

To ensure that all customers receive a polite, professional and timely service for their requests for information and processing of their planning applications and requests for information.

  • To carry out a range of duties to support the effective and efficient running of the Development Planning Service
  • To provide vital support to Planning Officers, in the progress of planning applications from validation, registration to consultation.
  • Preparation and dispatch of application documents for scanning and carrying out quality control assessments of the scanned documents
  • Undertake statutory and non-statutory consultations
  • Advising the public of the various stages of the application process including their opportunities to submit representations; –
  • Assisting in the preparation of Planning Committee
  • Production and issuing of decision notices
  • Upload documents to the Planning Website ensuring accuracy
  • Maintain manual and electronic filing systems including mailboxes.
  • Processing payments and reconciling payments
  • Provide day-to-day support for the professional Planning officers

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a busy environment effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in working to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and performance
  • Knowledge of Planning Legislation
  • Ability to handle a wide range of work, and knowledge of Planning and Land Charges.
  • Ability to support the monitoring of emails and work with computerised systems.
  • General and extensive administration/office experience.
  • Experience and extensive knowledge of using computer systems
  • Ability to manage own workload in line with service demands.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Effective verbal, interpersonal, telephone and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with a diverse range of people from customers to internal departments
  • Use own initiative to problem solving
