The Woodlands is looking to appoint an experienced Grade 8 Outreach Support Worker to join the Primary Team to work across schools in County Durham and to be based in one of two Primary bases at The Woodlands when required and in referring schools across County Durham to support Outreach and pupil reintegration.
Our students are referred through a Primary Panel for a short-term turnaround placement, where support and intervention are targeted to reset challenging behaviours.
The ideal person for this role would benefit from previous experience of working with challenging behaviours, delivering a range of interventions and be Team Teach trained, or be willing to complete this training.
Outline of Role
To work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups across all key stages as required, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve supporting teaching and support staff in the preparation and implementation of resources and systems to support behaviour management.
This role will predominantly involve building relationships with pupils in base and planning and staffing reintegration programmes which look to secure a pupil’s place in their mainstream setting following a placement off-site at The Woodlands. Staff may also supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers when required in the Woodlands bases. Staff will need access to transport to travel between school settings across County Durham, mileage will be payable in line with the County policy.
The Woodlands Primary is located in Ferryhill, Durham and caters for students aged between 5-11 who are at risk of suspension/exclusion. Ofsted rated the school as ‘Good’ in all areas at our last inspection.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
