Two fantastic opportunities have arisen for an extremely motivated and proficient Auditor and Principal Auditor to join a high performing and well-respected Southwest London Audit Partnership (SWLAP), one of the largest local authority shared audit services, in the UK.

About your roles 

You will mainly undertake assignments across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils but may also complete work across our other partners (Kingston, Merton and Sutton) if required. You will be providing an independent appraisal of the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal controls across directorates and other areas. To promote the profile of Internal Audit through the sharing of best practices and working closely with senior management across the Councils. 

These roles will involve a wide variety of engagements with exposure to all directorates, including function audits, thematic reviews, advisory engagements and ad hoc assignments. This will ensure excellent exposure to a wide range of the Councils’ activities and processes and provide an excellent opportunity for future progression within the Councils. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Who we are looking for

  • Experienced auditor with the ability to work autonomously (or lead a small team-Principal Auditor) to deliver assigned audit deliverables to the quality and time budget. Depending on the level of experience will determine whether the applicant meets the Principal Auditor or Auditor role.
  • Good knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of auditing, including technology integrated audits.
  • Understanding of risks and controls associated with a local authority’s operations.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Curious, critical thinking to challenge and provide insights.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ability to respond effectively to changing organisational needs.
  • Desire to continuously develop your own technical, organisational and personal skills.
  • Principal Auditor -You will be full (or part) qualified member of a CCAB body or equivalent (e.g. CMIIA, IIA or AAT) or have 5+ years of experience in internal audit. 
  • Auditor Role – You will be actively studying for a CCAB body or equivalent (IIA or AAT) or have 3+ years’ experience in Internal audit. 
  • Experience with Power BI would also be highly advantageous, as the function is currently rolling out a Data Analytics programme.
