The future is extremely bright at the Award winning Nidderdale Children’s Resource Centre, join us as we empower and support children and young people with Complex Health Needs, Disability and Autism.  

The Role

  • We work closely with families and other professionals to ensure that we have sound knowledge of the children we are caring for and are able to meet their diverse range of needs, interests and backgrounds. 
  • We focus on the strengths and positive attributes of the children to encourage the growth of self-esteem and empowerment and support them to develop to their full potential.
  • The role of Children’s Residential Short breaks Worker is invaluable, rewarding, complex and challenging, you will play an essential role in providing support and direct care to children and young people, and subsequently build empathetic respectful relationships.
  • At times this role may be challenging but you will be supported through a comprehensive programme which ensures new recruits have a thorough induction which includes training, shadowing experienced staff and competency testing.  

We have been Ofsted ‘Outstanding and Good’ for 9 years providing a highly effective service that consistently exceed the standards of good.  

This role is working a variety of shifts Monday to Sunday, this will include evenings and two weekends a month. We offer Short Breaks for children and young people but we also run a Holiday Club, and an Outreach service in Skipton, go on lots of residential holidays and run a fully accessible festival every year!    

About you  

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and highly skilled child focussed professionals with a positive approach and an understanding of safeguarding practice in a registered childcare setting. You should be an effective communicator who can adapt the way you communicate to engage young people who may not use words to speak.  

You should have willingness to complete an apprenticeship as part of your role to a level 4 standard. In return for your commitment to us, you will work within a supportive and child focussed team, receive regular training, supervision, appraisal and have lots of fun.
