The City of York SEND Team are looking for a Case Worker for children and young people with SEND and their families.

The Case Worker role focuses on person-centred planning, co-production and outcomes to generate outstanding and effective Education Health and Care Plans to support children and young people with their education and preparing for adulthood.

This is a diverse and engaging role, carrying significant responsibility for progressing individual cases through the statutory process in collaboration with education colleagues and other agencies across health and social care.

Successful applicants will have experience of working with families, children and young people with SEND and have secure knowledge and expertise concerning legislation and statutory guidance relating to SEND.  Applicants must be able to evidence highly developed communication and negotiating skills, diplomacy, sensitivity and tact and the postholder will need to work effectively with families in dispute with the Local Authority.

Working a very busy and demanding role, SEND Caseworkers must be able to re-prioritise workloads regularly and have a very high standard of organisational skills; be capable to working under their own initiative and work as an effective team member.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
