Are you passionate about driving service improvements and committed to delivering positive change in a people-centred, prevention-focused way? If so, we want to hear from you!
Swindon Borough Council is forging a future where connectivity powers progress. We're seeking six visionary, creative and passionate service directors to join our leadership team, turn the dial on performance and drive our improvement plans forward.
We’re integrating services, connecting our workforce with a sense of mission, fostering improved partnerships and harnessing AI and data to inform our preventative approach.
This is your chance to ignite transformation, deliver service excellence and build high performing teams whose purpose is to change lives, improve places and communities and build a fairer, better, greener Swindon.
About the role:
As our new Service Director of Integrated Communities and Partnerships, you will work with the Corporate Director for the Stronger and Safer Communities portfolio leading the Integrated Communities services, working strategically across the Council and with external partners to design and deliver a comprehensive prevention framework. Your focus will be on targeting resources where they can have the greatest impact—providing the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
You will champion collaborative working, driving engagement and partnerships across the Council and with public sector and community organisations. Your leadership will help to build an inclusive, integrated place-based approach to service delivery, ensuring that our efforts align with local needs and make the most of existing community assets. Through your leadership, you'll ensure that service provision promotes community safety, reduces inequality, and enhances the quality of life for all residents in Swindon.
Who we're looking for:
As our new Director of Integrated Communities and Partnerships, you will have the opportunity to bring your extensive management and leadership experience, gained within a local authority or public sector setting. We are looking for you to harness your deep understanding of the challenges facing community resilience and development at the national, regional and local levels.
To succeed in this role, you'll need a proven ability to inspire confidence and build effective community focused partnerships both within the organisation, and externally with key stakeholders. We're looking for someone who can translate vision and policy into practical action, ensuring tangible results for communities whilst managing high-value budgets and navigating the public sector funding framework. You'll be liaising with our elected Members, so experience of working in a politically regulated environment is key. We're also looking for the successful candidate to hold a Master's degree (or equivalent experience), alongside evidence of continued professional development and a commitment to promoting diversity and equality in service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive council that places its residents at the heart of everything it does. By joining us, you'll have the chance to lead meaningful, long-term change and play a critical role in shaping the future of Swindon's communities.
