Here at North Yorkshire County Council our Technology and Change (T&C) Department plays a vital part in improving and developing services across the whole Council for the benefit of our customers and staff.

Our Team

Our Technology Services are the technical and service delivery arm of T&C; underpinning all council and some of its partner’s services. The purpose of the Corporate Systems Team (CST) is to develop, enhance, administer and support key management information systems, aligning the current and future needs of the organisation and its customers to the right technology and ensuring they are delivered to the agreed standard.  

The role

We are looking for a Service Owner – Customer and Business Systems to join our team. You will you will lead two teams of technology professionals supporting the length and breadth of the organisation. With a particular focus on the provision of IT services to our Business and Environmental Services, Property, Legal, and Customer Service Centre you will be responsible for the quality of service delivery. Working with our Business Relationship Managers and the Customer, you will ensure the products and services supplied meet the needs of the service and its users, adhere to statutory and regulatory process, are delivered to agreed, achievable service levels and within budget.

Working with Product Owners you will champion agile ways of working, responding flexibly to changing business landscapes and supporting the planning and review of new or changed services as well as managing the end-to-end aspects of IT Service Management for the Services and Products within your portfolio.

To be successful in this role you will need to have in depth knowledge of IT Service Management as well as experience in both customer engagement and supplier and contract management. You will also need excellent communication skills, both written and verbally along with an ability to influence, negotiate and problem solve. We are also looking for someone who has a keen eye on optimising and automating processes, systems management and IT support.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with ITIL V4 Foundation but this is not essential as long as you hold a professional qualification or equivalent in the relevant specialism.
