Royal Greenwich Children’s Services is an exciting place to work right now. Following on from a comprehensive innovation programme and significant investment, together with our partners, children and young people and their families, we have introduced new ways of working which will help ensure that young people are held at the heart of all we do.  Underpinning our new ways of working, Royal Greenwich has transformed our services to create a new Disabled Children and Young People Service.  This new and innovative service provides social care services for eligible children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) from the age of 0 up to the age of 25, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition into Adult’s Services at the best time based on their individual needs and circumstances.  This new structure provides increased capacity ensuring that children, young people, and their families are provided with high-quality social care services and their experience and outcomes continue to improve.

We are now looking for talented and motivated candidate to join the service as a Short Break Officer. In your role, you will be delivering high-quality, ambitious services for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and disabilities and supporting the families within the service to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children and young people.

Royal Greenwich has a practice framework comprised of systemic practice, compassion informed and restorative practice, and to help your team drive this new service forward, you will have a trained clinician who will help ensure that the team are delivering therapeutically informed interventions.  Royal Greenwich also has a generous Short Break Core Offer of up to 100 hours for all children with an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP). In this post you would be working directly with families and our local providers to ensure children with SEND have access to high quality provision that supports them in achieving their outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality social work informed by evidence and analysis, best practice and the views of children, young people, families and our partners.

You will have a strong track record of delivering the best outcomes for disabled children& young people and families and have a comprehensive understanding of direct work and evidence-based interventions.

You will be joining a strong Children’s Services department with inclusive, accessible and compassionate leadership with a culture of support with challenge underpinned by high expectations for service delivery to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

If you feel that you have the necessary skills, experience and motivation, we would welcome your application.  This post will be advertised internally and externally concurrently; however, internal candidates will be prioritised under Royal Greenwich recruitment policy/procedures.  The closing date will be 23:59 on 17th May 2024 with interviews provisionally scheduled as for 23rd – 24th May.
