Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSCP) is seeking to appoint an Independent Scrutineer who will take on a key leadership role within our Partnership arrangements.
Recently WSCP has made some governance developments which has included the launch of a new Partnership delivery plan, alongside making arrangements at an Executive level to have a sharp focus on evidencing the impact the Partnership achieves through a robust scrutiny and assurance model.
WSCP is well established, with good partnership relationships, built on a culture of high support, high challenge. The appointment of an Independent Scrutineer will support the Partnership on its journey towards excellence.
Adopting the Checklist for Independent Scrutiny, informed by The Association of Safeguarding Partners (TASP) review the purpose of the Independent Scrutineer role in Wakefield is:
We are seeking someone to help further develop our Partnership working and drive towards our ambitions and goals towards excellence. The Independent Scrutineer will require excellent leadership and decision-making skills and substantial experience within the safeguarding children arena.
You will hold a professional qualification or equivalent in senior leadership experience with a clear vision, strong leadership skills and clearly demonstrable communication, mediation and negotiation skills, both with professionals and the public. You will have experience and skills in chairing large, complex multi-agency meetings at a senior strategic level, excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to enthuse and challenge partners to ensure effective safeguarding arrangements are in place.

The Independent Scrutineer is accountable to the strategic leads appointed by the three safeguarding partners. Salary will be £600 per day (the daily rate covers all expenses), up to a maximum of 18 days per financial year. The appoint will be for a maximum of two years, subject to review on a biennial basis.
