This role is based at County Hall, Northallerton, but travel may be required to other parts of the county dependant on project needs.

Are you passionate about improving digital services for everyone?

Do you enjoy solving problems, designing user-friendly services and solutions, developing automation and low code products, and supporting digital transformation?  Would you like to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that’s shaping the future of public services in North Yorkshire?

If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you!

About the role

You will support organisational transformation by designing and delivering automation and digitisation of council services using the latest tools and technology such as AI, low code platforms and robotic process automation.

You will work with teams across the Technology and Transformation services, and the wider business areas, to ensure opportunities identified for improvement are implemented to support realisation of benefits and efficiencies.

You will be part of the Service Design and Digital Adoption (SDDA) team within Transformation Services.  Transformation is an innovative, fast paced and large team providing digital and data services as well as delivering change management and innovation initiatives. We enable the organisation and its partners to achieve their outcomes and continually improve and evolve the services we deliver to the people of North Yorkshire and beyond.

The post is based at County Hall, Northallerton, or Civic Centre, Harrogate, but travel may be required to other parts of the county dependant on project needs.

About us

The SDDA team is responsible for creating, managing and improving a wide range of services and digital products that provide core capabilities across the council and partner services.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, we're changing how the council manages their services and digital products for the better.

Recent projects include:

  • The design and delivery of a new customer engagement platform (CRM).
  • An ongoing programme of RPA delivery.
  • The creation of single, North Yorkshire wide services across the council including garden waste, replacement bins, and housing repairs.
  • A new low code end to end service for complaints and compliments.
  • Introduction of AI chatbots and an approach for AI testing and delivery.
  • Digitisation of services for Environmental Health and Licensing.

About you

We are looking for somebody with a passion for digital and technology.  You may have experience of front-end design and development, or you may have come from a systems analyst role, or perhaps another area of IT, or have experience working with systems as part of the service you support.  Or you may be from a user experience, content design, customer or analysis background with a focus on technology.  We put customers at the heart of everything we do, so we’re looking for someone who has that mindset.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Some knowledge and understanding of requirements elicitation and UX analysis techniques, e.g. user stories, storyboarding, wireframing and user acceptance testing.
  • Some experience working with configurable information system applications e.g. RPA or low code form platforms.
  • Some knowledge of process modelling including developing ideal ‘to-be’ processes.
  • Some awareness of technical testing and user acceptance testing approaches.
  • Some knowledge of CSS, Java Script and HTML.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Some experience of managing stakeholders at different levels.

Why work for us?

As a North Yorkshire Council employee, you will have access to some great benefits via our everybody benefits scheme such as shopping discounts, home technology and green car salary sacrifice schemes, financial wellbeing and health assured and our employee assistance programme to assist with your health and wellbeing. You will also have access to a favourable local government pension scheme and flexible working options.
