This is a career-graded role with clear progression routes from Level 1 (Grade 7) through Level 3 (Grade 9). Whether you’re starting out or already qualified, we’ll support you to grow and succeed. (There is an eligibility criterion for government funded apprenticeships which require applicants to be aged 16 plus, be a resident in the UK/EU for the last three years).

- Variety and flexibility – Work across the Wakefield district in service users’ homes.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out holistic functional and environmental assessments in service users’ homes.
- Recommend and arrange major and minor adaptations and specialist equipment.
- Manage a complex caseload, working closely with contractors and specialist companies.
- Support service users and their families to reduce risks and improve independence.
- Contribute to risk management and reviews of completed works.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and produce professional reports.
- Participate in audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Uphold professional standards and council values, ensuring dignity, equality, and respect.
Who We’re Looking For
Level 1 (Apprenticeship route):
- Awareness of community health/social care, disability concepts, safeguarding, and equality principles
- Full driving licence and access to a car
Level 2/3 (Qualified):
- BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Full driving licence and access to a car
- Strong knowledge of legislation (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act), clinical governance, and housing standards
- Experience managing complex cases and working collaboratively across teams
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively
- Confidence in lone working and using supervision effectively
- Competence in IT systems and report writing
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
- For Level 3: Ability to lead audits, mentor staff, and contribute to service development
