Help shape a preventative future for communities in Kirklees

We’re looking for an experienced, values-driven leader to join our senior management team as Head of Service – Neighbourhoods and Prevention. This is a pivotal role focused on reducing the need for long-term care by strengthening prevention, early intervention and neighbourhood-based support.

This role sits at the heart of significant national and local change. You will help shape Kirklees’ approach to targeted prevention, aligning with developments such as Integrated Neighbourhood Health and Care Teams, Community Safety Partnership priorities and wider reforms across adult and children’s services that emphasise prevention, place and early help. The focus is on system leadership and service transformation rather than any single professional or statutory remit.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and delivery of a targeted prevention and early intervention strategy
  • Drive transformation programmes that reduce long-term demand across communities and services
  • Responsibility for a number of direct service delivery areas
  • Champion a whole-life, whole-family and whole-community approach
  • Provide leadership across carers support, co-production, neighborhood working and safeguarding partnerships
  • Embed trauma-informed, strengths-based and restorative practice
  • Use data, intelligence and learning to drive improvement and value for money
  • Work collaboratively with partners across health, police, voluntary sector and local government
  • Contribute to corporate leadership across the council

Working in a changing system

You will operate within a context of ongoing reform across health and local government, including the shift towards place-based, neighbourhood-led models of support and a strengthened focus on prevention and independence across the life course.

About you

  • Significant senior leadership experience with credibility in complex systems
  • Strong system leadership and partnership working skills
  • Strategic thinking, change leadership and financial acumen
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and safeguarding
  • Motivated by improving outcomes for residents and communities

If you think this is the role for you and you're ready to make an impact on your local communities, apply today!
