An opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Social Care team in Legal Services as a Professional Officer on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave until November 2025.           

This is a busy but friendly team who deal with legal aspects of the Local Authority's Adult Social Care responsibilities.          

The Adult Social Care team operates in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a wide range of adult social care law cases, including matters relating to the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Court of Protection.        

The Professional Officers support the lawyers by helping prepare applications to Court and running cases once underway, and assisting in the provision of advice and guidance in this fast paced and interesting area of the law.       

The role includes the following benefits:        

  • Salary from £32,115 to £36,124 per annum (national pay award negotiations ongoing)          
  • Full-time – 37 hours a week.

The successful candidate for all the roles will have:           

  • A minimum of four GCSEs including English and Maths.         
  • Relevant NVQ or technical qualification or can demonstrate relevant equivalent experience by referring to the Task List for the post.            
  • Analytical abilities and high levels of literacy and numeracy.        
  • Legal systems and process knowledge, plus other relevant IT skills including word, excel, PowerPoint or equivalents and other systems.
