Earn. Learn. Qualify.
Do you want to earn while you learn, with the chance of progression once you qualify? Do you want the opportunity to grow, develop and be the best version of yourself? Then why not build the foundations of your career with an Apprenticeship at Durham County Council.
Why choose Durham County Council?
Durham County Council is a fantastic place to work but if you need convincing, we’ve asked some of our apprentices to share their own stories at Apprenticeships at Durham County Council. You can also hear from John Hewitt, our Chief Executive, and how his career started with an apprenticeship.
Apprentice (Home Improvement Agency)

In this varied role, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support, assist with grant applications, maintain accurate records and contribute to the smooth running of our service. You’ll develop strong communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills while learning how we deliver high-quality, customer-focused housing solutions. If you are enthusiastic, dedicated, flexible and eager to learn, this apprenticeship offers a fantastic pathway into a meaningful career in housing and community support.
What qualification will I gain?
You will study towards the Housing and Property Management Level 3 with New College Durham.
What will I need?
You must either have or expect to achieve 2 GCSE’s grade 9-4/A*-C in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification, together with good communication and ICT skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
