The Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive Aquatics Co‑ordinator to support the delivery of high quality aquatics services across several Active North Yorkshire locations.

The Aquatics Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, high‑quality delivery of swimming lessons and aquatic activities across multiple Active North Yorkshire sites. Working closely with the Aquatics Manager, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Learn to Swim programme, school swimming, and wider aquatic provision. You’ll support and guide swimming teachers, uphold service standards, and help ensure programmes are inclusive, customer‑focused, and financially sustainable. Collaborating with site teams, schools, and community partners, you’ll help grow participation, enhance customer experience, and shape ongoing service improvements linked to health, wellbeing, and community impact.

 

Programme Delivery & Development

  • Coordinate the Learn to Swim programme across designated sites, ensuring consistency, quality and alignment with Swim England standards.
  • Oversee the delivery of schools swimming, crash courses and holiday programmes.
  • Support the development of inclusive and specialist aquatic offers.
  • Provide site‑level insight to inform wider strategic decisions.

Commercial & Financial Responsibility

  • Work with the Aquatics manager to develop and implement strategies that drive income across aquatic services.
  • Use local insight to help set and monitor participation and financial targets.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Lead site‑based aquatics meetings and ensure effective staff communication.
  • Support recruitment, inductions, mentoring, and performance reviews of swim teachers.
  • Coordinate CPD and other training opportunities.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with local partners including schools, clubs and external partners.
  • Represent the health and fitness service in working groups and contribute to community engagement plans.

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Use the leisure management systems to manage class schedules, enrolments and reporting.
  • Assist with customer enquiries.
  • Conduct audits of health and fitness provision and support health and safety compliance.

Marketing & Communications

  • Act as a key link between site teams and central marketing.
  • Deliver targeted marketing campaigns and encourage participation.
  • Ensure site communications align with commercial and engagement priorities.

What You Will Bring

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Swim England/STA Level 2 certificate in teaching swimming.
  • Significant relevant experience in managing aquatic programmes.
  • Strong experience in developing and implementing strategies to increase participation and drive revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of inclusive swimming practices and the ability to support diverse participants needs.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements related to aquatic facilities.
  • Confident use of leisure management systems and digital tools.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, leadership and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and operate flexibly, including evenings/weekends when required.
