Sandwell Council is looking for a new Director of Children and Education to spearhead its next phase of development in children’s services. This is an opportunity to shape the structure and landscape for children’s services within Sandwell, providing strong, strategic local leadership and guiding the future development of an increasingly autonomous and diverse children’s services and educati on sector.

This statutory role will ensure effective oversight of the contract with Sandwell Childrens’ Trust, and other key commissioned providers of statutory services, and operationally manage the council’s own directly delivered services for children and young people.

Working with your leadership team you will formulate a future for early years services, schools, the SEND agenda, and early help services to deliver improved outcomes for children as part of the council’s new Corporate Plan. You will also lead and shape the multi-agency commissioning arrangements and safeguarding partnership approach across the Borough and work closely with the CEO of Sandwell Children’s Trust to ensure that children are protected, and that good corporate parenting is achieved.

As an experienced leader you will influence and nurture the councils’ relationships with external partners and elected members and work closely with the Council's Chief Executive, central government departments and regional governance arrangements.
