Help shape the future of the Vale of Glamorgan.
The places we create shape people’s lives for generations.
At the Vale of Glamorgan Council, we are delivering ambitious regeneration, placemaking and strategic investment programmes that will influence our communities for decades to come. From town centre transformation and waterfront regeneration to schools, housing, infrastructure and public realm investment, the scale of opportunity is significant and growing.
We are now looking for an exceptional leader to help turn that ambition into delivery.
Welcome to the Vale of Glamorgan, a county where coastline, communities, market towns, rural landscapes and growth opportunities come together to create a place full of potential.
Our communities are ambitious, diverse and evolving. From Barry’s major regeneration opportunities and waterfront investment to thriving towns, strategic housing ambitions and economic development priorities, the Vale is a place of visible transformation and long-term opportunity.
At the heart of our ambitions is Vale 2030: Strong Communities with a Bright Future, our commitment to creating great places to live, work and visit, strengthening our environment, supporting inclusive growth and being the best Council we can be.
We are reshaping how we work, strengthening how we deliver and investing in the future of our communities. With significant investment already underway and strong political and organisational support for transformation, this role offers a genuine opportunity to shape long-term delivery across the Council.
Ambitious - Forward thinking, embracing new ways of working and investing in our future.
Open - Open to different ideas and being accountable for the decisions we take.
Together - Working together as a team that engages with our customers and partners, respects diversity and is committed to quality services.
Proud - Proud of the Vale of Glamorgan; proud to serve our communities and to be part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
About the role
This is one of the most strategically important delivery roles within the organisation.
As Head of Regeneration and Strategic Project Delivery, you will lead the Council’s place-based regeneration agenda while strengthening how major projects are prioritised, co-ordinated and delivered across the organisation.
You will play a central role in turning strategic ambition into visible delivery — leading programmes that support sustainable, inclusive and resilient communities across the Vale.
Working across regeneration, housing, transport, learning, neighbourhood services and wider infrastructure programmes, you will bring together multidisciplinary teams and partners to drive a more connected, resilient and outcome-focused approach to delivery.
You will also act as a visible civic leader for the Council, building trusted relationships with communities, elected members, Welsh Government, UK Government, regional partners, investors and delivery organisations to maximise opportunity, secure investment and shape long-term outcomes.
This role requires someone who can navigate complexity, build confidence across stakeholders and deliver at pace in a high-profile and evolving environment.
Few roles offer the opportunity to influence regeneration, placemaking and strategic delivery at this scale, across such a broad and visible portfolio.
Initially offered as a two-year fixed-term or secondment opportunity, this role provides the chance to lead high-profile regeneration and strategic delivery programmes at a pivotal time for the Vale of Glamorgan.
About you
We are looking for a confident, collaborative and values-driven leader who combines strategic thinking with delivery focus and thrives in complex, ambitious environments.
You will bring significant experience delivering regeneration, infrastructure or capital programmes at scale, alongside strong commercial awareness, political understanding and the ability to lead through influence across a complex organisational environment.
Just as importantly, you will share our passion for public service and our belief that regeneration, place making and excellent project delivery can create lasting change for people and communities.
You will be someone who:
builds strong partnerships and trusted relationships, creates clarity, confidence and accountability, leads collaboratively across services and organisations, combines strategic oversight with delivery focus, and is motivated by making a visible and lasting difference. If you are ready to help shape the future of the Vale of Glamorgan, we would love to hear from you.
First stage interviews are scheduled for 2 July 2026, with final stage interviews taking place on 21 July 2026.
