Be the friendly face behind a fresh start

As a Lettings Assistant, you'll be the friendly face behind a fresh start. From making sure homes are ready to welcoming residents on move-in day, your support will help families and individuals settle quickly and confidently. You'll work closely with teams across the council to ensure everything runs smoothly - because when our homes are ready, our communities thrive.

Working Style:

You'll be based in the Borough for 3-4 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing:

You'll be at the centre of the lettings process, making sure that properties are ready to move into and that residents feel supported throughout their journey. Each day, you'll coordinate with colleagues across Property Services and Housing Needs to reduce turnaround times on empty properties and ensure rent loss is kept to a minimum.

You'll take care of the details - from preparing lettings packs and managing weekly property adverts to keeping internal systems up to date and coordinating termination processes. You'll also organise and lead void call-over meetings, making sure everyone has the information they need to keep things on track.

A big part of the role is people-facing. You'll be the first point of contact for prospective and new residents, guiding them through the lettings process with empathy and care. Whether arranging viewings, filming virtual tours or managing decants and transfers, you'll make sure residents feel informed, included and at ease. You'll handle confidential information responsibly, track key handovers and ensure everything is compliant with audit requirements.

What you'll bring

You'll bring a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine interest in making a difference. You don't need to have a lettings background, but some knowledge of housing would be a plus. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your ability to stay organised and your confidence working with systems, emails and spreadsheets.

You're someone who communicates clearly and kindly - whether with colleagues or residents. You understand that housing can be stressful for people, especially if they're vulnerable or going through big life changes. Your ability to stay calm, be compassionate and problem-solve will help people feel supported from the moment they get in touch.

Why join us

At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future.

You'll join a welcoming, supportive and energetic team who know how much this work matters. Whether you're learning new systems, shadowing a colleague or leading a letting, you'll be surrounded by people who want you to grow and succeed.

There are great opportunities for training and development, and you'll see first-hand the impact of your work. From helping a family move into a safe home to making sure a vulnerable resident has the support they need, you'll be making a real difference - and we'll support you every step of the way.
