We’re offering exciting opportunities for Library Assistant to join our team and support the delivery of library and public information services to the South of the county.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

This is a chance to share your enthusiasm for reading while getting involved in a wide range of activities—from assisting customers with enquiries to promoting library events and community initiatives.

Various hours and locations available.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Welcoming and assisting customers with enquiries
  • Issuing and returning books and other library materials
  • Supporting the use of library equipment and resources
  • Promoting library services, assisting with delivery of events and activities
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases using IT systems
  • Assisting with basic administrative and banking tasks
  •  As a customer-facing role, you’ll need to communicate confidently and provide a high standard of customer care to people from all walks of life.

    WHAT WILL I NEED?
     
    You should hold a NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent).

    We are looking for a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills.  You should have a friendly, approachable manner and experience of working with customers in a public-facing environment and have confidence using IT applications.

    INTERVIEWS
     
    It is expected interviews will be held week commencing 15th June 2026.
