We have an excellent opportunity here at North Yorkshire Music Service for a skilled and enthusiastic music teacher specialising in Brass at Skipton Music Centre.
About us
Skipton Music Centre is a lively Saturday morning centre, providing musical learning for children and adults across a range of instruments and genres. Delivering musical activities at the heart of Skipton and the surrounding area, we provide regular performance opportunities in our concerts and participation in community events.
About the role
You will take over our instrumental lessons in Brass, teaching musicianship and instrumental technique, in small group and individual lessons, and be responsible for leading an ensemble – our thriving Beginner Band, senior Concert Band, or there is flexibility for another specialism (e.g. folk or jazz).
The ideal candidate will be creative and enthusiastic, confident in supporting young people and adults at different stages of their musical journey. They will create an inspiring and inclusive learning environment, incorporating Youth Voice and child-centred approaches. They will be interested in contributing to the community of the music centre and collaborating with the wider staff team.
The contract is for 3.5 hours per week, 30 sessions per academic year (pro-rata over 52 weeks). Additional time for concerts and events can also be claimed on a monthly basis.
The contract is fixed term for one year, to be reviewed after that.
