An exciting opportunity has arisen with Durham County Council to join our well established ‘in house’ Occupational Health Service in making a positive contribution towards workplace health and wellbeing. The team provides a SEQOHS accredited Occupational Health Service to Council employees and external contracts, based in Meadowfield, Durham.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
This is a rewarding and diverse role, ideally suited to an ambitious individual, who is looking for an exciting opportunity. We are looking for someone who is interested in developing their nursing career within occupational health, we will support the successful candidate in
training to become a fully qualified Occupational Health Specialist Practitioner.
 
To carry out the role effectively you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a professional and enthusiastic approach to developing new skills. 
 
The successful candidate will assist in delivering a broad range of services including immunisations, health surveillance and fitness for work assessments to Council employees as part of the Occupational Health Team.  Due to the nature of this role, the work will involve some on-site and evening working.
 
Working as part of an established Occupational Health Team offers the opportunity to work in a nurse led environment, whilst having the support of a nurse manager and Occupational Health Physician with regular clinical supervision.
 
Experience of working in Occupational Health is desirable but is not essential as training will be provided.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

We are seeking a RGN/RN (Adult or Mental Health) nurse to assist with the delivery of a broad range of health assessments and screening to a range of employment groups across the region as part of the Occupational Health Team.

INTERVIEWS

Interviews will be held week commencing 29th June 2026.
