Do you have experience of service improvement and working to agile project management principles?
Would you excel in role that is focused on user-centred service design?
We are offering a fantastic, fixed term opportunity to join our high performing and ambitious Transformation Team, covering the maternity leave of one of our Organisation and Service Designers.
Our Purpose
Organisation and Service Design is a growing practical discipline for us at North East Lincolnshire Council and we are excited about the opportunities that this approach provides. We are currently embedding our operating model which enables us to utilise a more agile, design led way of working to deliver positive outcomes for our residents.
Our approach has been successful and we are continuing to grow this capability to bring user centred design into more and earlier project and programme thinking, ensuring that we design the right things for service users.
Your Role
Join our team, and no two projects will be the same. We are seeking to cover maternity leave in our small team of Service Designers with someone who can blend the creative storytelling required to inspire customers, staff and leaders with the analysis and structure needed to help us create practical and tangible designs which deliver improved outcomes on a diverse range of service areas.
This role will specialise in user-centred design, working closely with front-line services, other Transformation Team colleagues and the Insights Team in multi-disciplinary project teams. You will play a crucial role in helping to implement new ideas and identify opportunities to enhance public services for our residents.
You will be working in multi-disciplinary teams with delivery managers, data analysts and researchers focused on improving end to end journeys at scale, championing user-centred design whilst considering the Council’s objectives.
You will help us to understand the overall service including the user journey, systems, teams and processes involved. Working with a broad range of colleagues, partners and stakeholders you will look at the wider picture, thinking about how to connect the dots (products, people, technology and processes) to inform our design decisions and opportunities, support policy development and system change and the evaluation of our impact.
This could look like:
About You
You will have demonstrable experience of designing services and working to agile principles. Ideally you will be confident using co-design approaches to bring different people together including service users and stakeholders. You will need the ability to suggest solutions to help solve a problem, and have a passion for user-centred design, with excellent communication skills that enable you to quickly build relationships and trust with service users and those who provide those services.
You must be naturally curious, always looking to get to the root causes of problems, offer innovative responses and be willing to challenge the status quo. You will support us to communicate the story of our work and how we make decisions using design led, agile methodologies.
Think you can make a difference? We want to hear from you.
