This exciting opportunity is for someone to make a difference and support the development and implementation of the Council’s Private Rented Sector Access scheme.
This temporary role will support the Senior Private Rented Sector Access Officer to deliver the day-to-day operations of this scheme.
The Private Rented Sector Access scheme is a partnership between the Council’s Strategic Housing and Housing Needs Services.
This challenging but rewarding role, will require a positive and flexible attitude, and the drive and passion for delivering innovative housing support solutions to people in need. An understanding of the private rented sector, including landlords and tenants, as well as the support needs of the homeless is essential.
This role will support the development of trusted relationships with private rented landlords, encouraging them to provide a range of accommodation to support the Council to discharge statutory homelessness duties.
This role will also work with tenants, providing a resettlement service, and a package of one-to-one support to build tenancy skills and create sustainable tenancies.
Reporting to the Housing Enforcement and Standards Manager this role will hit the ground running. Based within a small team you will be expected to effectively work from your own initiative, managing your own workload with minimal supervision for long periods of time.
Experience of writing reports, communicating with members of the public and partner agencies, and a high degree of competency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word systems is essential.
The role will be based in the Strategic Housing and Regeneration Service, Economic Growth and Skills, at Wakefield One building in Wakefield city centre and will involve travelling throughout the Wakefield district on a regular basis. A full driving licence is also required.
This is a temporary role until March 2027 and is open to secondment opportunities. If applying on a secondment basis you must seek the permission of you line manager before an application is made.
