Are you passionate about changing the lives of young people and helping children’s homes to develop the support they provide, act as a critical friend and provide detailed and analytical reports that focus on the safety and wellbeing of children?
We are recruiting a Regulation 44 Officer for our residential homes.
What will be expected from me?
You will be conducting independent visits to Wakefield Council internal Children's Residential Homes in accordance with Regulation 44 of The Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015.
This is an exciting new role for a candidate with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You will have the ability to carry out audit checks and provide an Ofsted ready report of your findings detailing how the children and young people in the home have progressed since your last visit.
What I might be doing?
- Completing monthly visits to the each Residential Home in Wakefield to scrutinise how the home is supporting children to enjoy and achieve.
- You will produce reports about each visit that provides an evidential base as to whether children are effectively safeguarded, and the home is being conducted in a way that promotes children's wellbeing.
- Providing recommendations for the improvement and enhancement of services in the interests of the children and young people.
- Making positive relationships with children and young people within our Residential Homes and listening to their voices to ensure it is captured within the reports.
- You will communicate with, and offer support and guidance to, our Registered Managers regarding compliance, continual improvement, and best practice within the homes.

Essential requirements:
- An ability to build strong relationships with children, their families, colleagues and partner agencies.
- An ability to write high-quality reports and assessments and analyse information effectively.
- Experience of working in a Residential Children’s Home
- Full driving license and access to a car is needed.
