We have exciting opportunities for two-year fixed-term contracts within our Private Rented Sector Housing Regulation and Fire Safety Team. We seek exceptional candidates with a proactive approach and a strong commitment to improving residents' lives by effectively managing and resolving cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and provide enhanced information and intelligence to support efforts in addressing rogue landlords and businesses.
  • Investigate and enforce compliance with residential licensing regulations, high-rise fire safety standards, and other housing matters.
  • Gather, assess, and analyse intelligence reports, and coordinate with Council departments and partner agencies.
  • Conduct visits, collect evidence, and take statements to support enforcement and prosecution activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-level education and experience in an intelligence or legal environment are preferred.
  • Knowledge of the legal framework for information gathering and sharing, both internally and externally.
  • Experience in developing intelligence, conducting investigations, and preparing detailed reports.

Successful candidates will be appointed on a Grade PO1 based on their knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

You will receive daily support from senior staff and a Team Manager, with opportunities for professional development through internal and external training, including CPD opportunities and payment of relevant professional fees.

As part of the Our Greenwich plan, we want to ensure that our private sector landlords provide well-managed, decent and a safe standard of private rented accommodation. You will join a team whose mission is very much about ensuring that people in Greenwich have access to safe and secure housing that meets their needs, whilst striving to be the 'best or better' in the services we deliver each and every day.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience of working with private sector housing, and similar regulatory compliance-based processes.

The successful candidate will be eligible for the Council's flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working, to support a good work/life balance. Please ensure your application addresses all the essential criteria outlined in the attached person specification.
