Hello, my name is Melanie your potential Team Manager, WELCOME and thanks for looking. Let me tell you about our team.
We are looking for two great Social Workers (grade 8) to work within our social care/health integrated mental health team based at Baghill house in Pontefract and Drury Lane in Wakefield.
We have vacancies in the team due to staff progression, so feel excited to be welcoming new team members.
If you want to work as part of a kind and caring team, who eat a lot of chocolate, (healthier options available!), then we might just be the team for you. We work with a range of wonderful clients aged 65 and over who have a diagnosed mental health condition. We support them and their family, with their goals, wants and needs in a Care Act focussed way, helping them to become more independent and participate in the community in which they live. As a team we have a can do, positive attitude and if this is what you are looking for then we may just be perfect for you.
Every day is different with a variety of tasks from reassuringly holding someone's hand while they share their troubles. Or we might be undertaking a Care Act Assessment or preparing reports, attending court. We could be working with our health colleagues or supporting carers and family members. We need to be methodical and always prepared to support our residents. It may sometimes take a while to build rapport and trust; however, it is always worth the wait to brighten someone's day or see the look of relief on their families face when we have done another amazing job.
If you are joining our team as a Newly Qualified Social Worker, you will be supported to undertake the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme.
We want to invite you to be part of Wakefield transformational changes in social work within secondary mental health services.
As a Social Worker, your values, knowledge and skills will be pivotal in promoting wellbeing and improving the outcomes for individuals with mental health conditions and you will work in equal partnership with colleagues from Southwest Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust.
You will have experience working with people who have mental health needs, have excellent assessment and communication skills, along with an understanding of legislation particularly the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983. As part of your role, you will undertake planned interventions, complete Care Act conversation-style assessments, strength-based reviews, and develop person-centred and outcome-focussed care and support plans. As a Social Worker in the older adults' teams, you will have support from day one to learn, develop new skills and progress in your career.
