The Role: Wheatley Hill Community Primary is a highly inclusive school dedicated to delivering outstanding teaching and learning. As our school continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, creative, and motivated Teaching Assistants to join our team, specifically to support our Specialist SEND Provision: The Climb Project.
We are looking for practitioners with a passion for working with children with additional needs. You will support pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour, helping them integrate into mainstream learning through a culture of co-production and experiential growth.
Why Join Us?
Training: You will receive a significant training package covering curriculum adaptation, assessment, and SEND support, helping you develop into a highly skilled practitioner.
Impact: You will work holistically, collaborating with carers and professionals to make a real difference in a child’s development.
Variety: The role includes opportunities to support our free pupil transport service (as a driver or escort), further strengthening your bond with the pupils.
What We Are Looking For: We need candidates with "vision, values, and tenacity." You must hold a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and have a genuine desire to work with children who face barriers to learning.
How to Apply: We strongly encourage interested candidates to contact the school for a discussion about this exciting position and how the role may develop in the future.

Main purpose of the role is to work in partnership with teachers and professional agencies to provide effective support for pupils with SEND, specifically within "The Climb Project" provision. To support the holistic development of the child, including their social, emotional, and physical well-being, and to assist in the smooth running of the school’s free transport offer.
Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, if successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure.
As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
