We are looking for a strategic and experienced Tenant & Resident Engagement Lead to champion meaningful involvement across Housing Services. This role will ensure tenant and resident engagement and coproduction is embedded in how we design, deliver and improve services, enabling residents to coproduce and shape services and hold us to account.
You will provide strong leadership and management to a team of Tenant Engagement Officers, setting clear priorities, supporting performance and developing staff to deliver high-quality engagement. Alongside managing the team, you will play a key strategic role in shaping how tenant engagement supports service improvement, regulatory compliance and the council’s wider housing objectives.
You will lead the development and delivery of the Tenant Engagement Strategy, driving forward engagement, scrutiny and service improvement projects. Working closely with tenants, residents, internal teams and partners, you will create opportunities for residents to influence decision-making and improve outcomes for communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and develop a team of Tenant Engagement Officers, setting clear direction, monitoring performance and supporting professional development
- Provide strategic leadership for tenant and resident engagement, ensuring it is embedded across Housing Services using coproduction principles
- Drive forward the tenant involvement model, including scrutiny and improvement projects
- Develop and deliver the Tenant Engagement Strategy and engagement plans.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, tenants and partners to improve services and maximise social value
- Ensure compliance with consumer regulation and changes in housing standards.
- Monitor and evaluate engagement activity, using insight to inform service improvements
- Produce reports and briefings, including Cabinet reports, on tenant engagement activity and outcomes
About You:
- You will be an experienced engagement professional with strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
- You will have experience managing teams, delivering engagement strategies, coproduction and working across organisations to influence change
You will bring:
- Proven people management and leadership experience, including motivating and developing teams
- The ability to think strategically and align engagement activity with organisational priorities
- Experience in tenant, resident or community engagement within housing or local government
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and facilitation and coproduction skills
- A passion for empowering residents and driving service improvement
