About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists in the Council’s Environmental Services for a Waste & Cleansing Operations Manager working from our Depot at Newton Bar, Wakefield.
Key Responsibilities:
The postholder will lead, manage and be accountable for the delivery of a high quality, continually improving Waste & Cleansing Service.
This is a key operational role in the efficient management of circa 98 manual employees, and has operational management for Waste and Recycling and Street Cleansing services running out of Newton Bar and South Kirkby Depots.
The post holder has a constant workflow of operational management, sickness and HR related issues, and operational management of the Newton Bar and South Kirkby Depots. This is a pivotal role that this post delivers to provide a robust operational service.
The post is a full-time position and demands high skills, knowledge and experience of working within a broad scope of Health and Safety and Operational Management disciplines. This post has responsibility for fleet management for the depot and management of driver compliance in line with the authorities Earned Recognition status.
What will be expected from me ?
The postholder will be required to demonstrate that they have the following skills, knowledge and experience:-
To be an ambassador for the Council when dealing with all stakeholders, customers and have excellent communication and inter-personel skills.
Essential requirements:
Educated to degree or equivalent level or equivalent relevant experience.
IOSH management certificate in safety (or gain within 12 months of appointment)
Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Transport Operations Management (Road Haulage) (or obtain within 18 months of appointment)
Full Valid driving licence
